Of the 4,292 students in Washington County who took the 2021-22 Mathematics test, 19.9% met expectations and 8.7% did better than expected, according to the New York State Education Department.

In total, 28.599999999999998% of the students met or exceeded expections in Washington County, a decrease of 7.2% compared to the previous school year.

Within the county, Fort Ann Middle/High School students performed the best in Mathematics, with 58% of them considered proficient in the subject. Meanwhile, Salem High School, Putnam Central School, Putnam Central School, Mary J. Tanner Primary School, Mary J. Tanner Primary School, Hudson Falls Middle School, Fort Edward School, and Cambridge Junior-Senior High School students fared the worst, with 0% passing the test.

The state registered an overall proficiency rate of 40% of students who met or exceeded expectations.

A 2021 report from the NYC Center for Innovation Through Data Intelligence found that outcomes for different racial and gender groups had improved since 2013. However, despite the improvements, significant gaps still persist, particularly among Black and Hispanic students.
