Cost of college went up for all students at Adirondack Community College

In-state tuition and fees rose 4.3 percent for 2018-19 at Adirondack Community College, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

New York residents paid $5,340 to attend the two-year public institution this year – $221 more than the $5,119 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 85.4 percent more than residents this year, or $9,900. Their price tag grew 4.1 percent from $9,511 in 2017-18.

About 98 percent of the school's undergraduate population are New York residents. And about 2 percent are residents of other states.

Data shows 56 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 425 students received grants or scholarships totaling $2.4 million and 182 students took out student loans totaling more than $870,210.

Including all undergraduates (3,727), 1,591 students used grants or scholarships totaling $8.1 million, and 871 students took out $4.7 million in federal student loans.
