Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh has presented a New York State Assembly proclamation to Bowman Orchards. The orchard was inducted into the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry following Walsh's nomination. Members of the Bowman family were present to receive the award.
Walsh has previously recognized several local businesses and organizations, including Curtis Lumber Co., Stewart’s Shops, and Ballston Spa National Bank, nominating them for this honor as well.
The registry program is managed by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation. It acknowledges businesses that have operated for at least 50 years and contributed to their community's history.
“I’m honored to celebrate with Bowman Orchards as they receive a well-deserved spot on the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry for their longstanding contributions to agriculture, conservation and our local community,” said Walsh. “For more than 70 years, it has been a gathering place where families make memories and where sustainable farming practices are at the forefront.”
“It’s businesses like Bowman Orchards that remind us of the power of local roots and the importance of preserving our agricultural heritage for future generations. I’m proud to recognize their hard work and leadership through this historic designation,” Walsh concluded.
