Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C-Ballston) spoke out at a press conference at the New York State Capitol regarding the state's economic outlook. According to Walsh, New York has once again been ranked as the state with the worst economic outlook in America for the 11th consecutive year.
Walsh highlighted the impact of Tax Day in New York, stating, "More than just a reminder to submit your taxes, Tax Day serves as a stark reminder of New York’s economic challenges. New Yorkers pay some of the highest taxes in the country and we consistently come in last for our business climate. Tax hikes continue to drive New Yorkers out of the state, yet our majority colleagues persist in prioritizing tax increases."
She emphasized the need for tax reductions to ease the financial burden on families in New York, pointing out the ongoing exodus of residents from the state as a result of high taxes. Walsh stressed the importance of taking concrete steps to enhance the state's economic competitiveness, stating, "We need policies that encourage growth and attract investment, not drive residents away."
In conclusion, Walsh urged for proactive measures to be implemented to improve New York's economic standing and prevent further migration of residents due to economic challenges.
