Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh (R,C-Ballston) recently led a successful drug take-back event in partnership with the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Company Station #2. Reflecting on the event, Walsh expressed gratitude to all involved and emphasized the importance of safely disposing of medications, stating, "This event plays a crucial role in preventing unused medication from falling into the wrong hands."
During the event, a total of 11 boxes were collected, with Walsh noting, "During the three-hour event, we collected eight boxes of unneeded medications and three boxes of sharps, all destined for the Drug Enforcement Administration office for proper disposal." She highlighted the community's support and participation, underscoring the significance of preventing accidental ingestion by children or pets and ensuring medications do not end up inappropriately.
Walsh extended her appreciation to the Saratoga County Sheriff's Office and Vischer Ferry Volunteer Fire Department Station #2 for their assistance in hosting the event and encouraged residents to prepare for future initiatives. She announced upcoming spring-cleaning events, including an electronic recycling event on Saturday, April 13, and a shredding event on Sunday, April 14, urging community members to participate.
Looking ahead, Walsh will collaborate with EWASTE+ for an Electronic Recycling Event on April 13 and 3N Document Destruction for a Shredding Event at Dockstader Recreation Park as part of her annual series. She invited the public to engage in these initiatives, emphasizing the collective effort to promote safe disposal practices and community well-being.
