Tedisco and McDonald Honor NYS Champion Waterford-Halfmoon Girls Soccer Team at State Capitol

Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C-Ballston Lake) and Assemblyman John McDonald (D-Cohoes) today welcomed to the New York State Capitol and honored with a legislative resolution they passed into law, the New York State Class C State Champion Waterford-Halfmoon Union Free School District Girls Soccer Team.

The team's impressive achievement of securing their second consecutive state championship was highlighted by Senator Tedisco as he stated, "This is the Waterford-Halfmoon High School Girls Soccer Team’s second-in-a-row state championship." The dedication and hard work of the team were evident in their performance in the final, as noted when it was mentioned, "The Waterford-Halfmoon High School Girls Soccer Team and Head Coach Meghan Reynolds captured the New York State Class C Girls Soccer Championship with a 2-2 double-overtime tie with Mount Academy to secure their share of the state title on November 12, 2023, at Homer High School in Homer, NY."

Prior to their remarkable success at the state level, the team's journey to victory included winning the Wasaren League, Section II, and Regional Championships, as indicated by the statement, "Prior to their success at the State Level, the Fordians won the Wasaren League, Section II and Regional Championships compiling an outstanding overall record of 19-1-3." Additionally, their commitment to academic excellence was recognized as they were commended for being a New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Team with an impressive team grade point average of 95.9, demonstrating their dedication both on and off the field.
