Assemblyman Matt Simpson held a press conference at the Warren County Public Works facility to advocate for increased state funding for local roads and bridges in the 2025-2026 state budget. Simpson was joined by state legislators and highway superintendents from the region. He stressed the importance of fully funding the Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) to maintain safe and efficient roads for North Country residents.
Simpson stated, “Every year we face an uphill battle to secure the necessary funding to keep our roads safe and reliable. It’s time for Albany to recognize that investing in local infrastructure will lead to the growth and development our state needs right now.” He added, “Our highway departments do an incredible job with limited resources, but they need the state to step up and deliver the funding necessary. I will continue to fight to make sure our communities get the infrastructure investments they deserve.”
