Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C-Ballston Lake) posthumously presented the NYS Senate Liberty Medal, the Senate's highest award for service, to U.S. Air Force veteran and New York State Trooper Timothy P. Pratt of Moreau at an “Honor Our Deceased Veterans” ceremony held by the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors.

Timothy "Tim" Pratt served in the USAF from 1979 to 1986 and was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant. For his military service, he was awarded the AF Training Ribbon, AF Commendation Medal, AF Good Conduct Medal, and the AF Longevity Service Award.

After his time in the Air Force, Tim began a 30-year-long career as a New York State Trooper, during which he was assigned to Troop G, patrolling out of the Wilton Barracks where he worked in Traffic Incident Management. He was also a member of the elite New York State Police Motorcycle Unit and led the 9/11 Memorial Ride from Albany to New York City.

Tim was involved with American Legion Post 574 and volunteered at various community events. He particularly cherished his work with the South Glens Falls Marathon Dance as an alumnus of their first event.

Tim had three children: James, Sarah, and Shane; he was engaged to Sue Clarke. He tragically passed away on October 26, 2016 while on duty responding to a traffic incident.

"Timothy Pratt truly symbolized everything that those who serve in harm’s way embody: compassion, dedication and service above self. We will always remember Tim Pratt’s heroism and service to our great state and nation. May God Bless him and bring comfort to his loving family," said Senator Jim Tedisco.
