Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C-Ballston Lake) took the opportunity today to honor the New York State Class B Stillwater High School Boys Basketball Team on the Senate Floor. A resolution was passed commemorating their state championship season.

Under the guidance of Coach Bruce Lilac, the Stillwater High School Warriors triumphed over Marcellus High School in a tightly contested 59-50 victory. This win, which took place on March 15th at the Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, New York, marked their second championship in program history.

Before claiming the state title, the team had an impressive run in the Wasaren League with a 16-0 record. They finished their season with an exceptional overall record of 27-1.

In addition to their athletic prowess, the Stillwater Warriors were also acknowledged for their academic accomplishments. The team was recognized as a New York State Public High School Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Team, achieving an overall team grade point average above 90 percent.

“The Stillwater Boys Basketball Team had an incredible championship season that will be remembered for a long time. I’m proud of this team and to welcome and honor them on the Floor of the New York State Senate,” said Senator Jim Tedisco. It's worth noting that Senator Tedisco has deep roots in athletics; he previously served as an athletic director, basketball coach, and record-breaking basketball player at Union College and Bishop Gibbons High School in Schenectady.
