State Senator Jim Tedisco expressed strong disapproval following the release of three suspects involved in a burglary at Lola in Saratoga Springs. The individuals, all from Washington, DC, were apprehended early in the morning in Clifton Park after attempting to evade police at high speed. They were subsequently released by the court without bail.

“This is a sad result of the dangerous bail reform law passed by the Governor and the radicals in the Majority that continues to wreak havoc on honest, law-abiding New Yorkers with its revolving door of danger and disaster,” Tedisco stated. He emphasized his commitment to sponsoring bipartisan legislation (S.905) aimed at repealing the current bail reform law and restoring judicial discretion similar to that exercised in 49 other states.

Tedisco commended local law enforcement agencies for their efforts. “I applaud the Saratoga Springs Police Department, Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office, and the New York State Police for their work in apprehending these individuals as well as the person who contacted law enforcement when they saw the crime take place.”

The senator called for immediate legislative action: “We need to come back into session and pass my bail reform bill so judges have the ability to keep criminals like this locked up in the future and so we can protect New York’s forgotten people: crime victims and law-abiding citizens.”
