With the passing of former President Jimmy Carter, Assemblyman Simpson issued a statement highlighting Carter's contributions and legacy.

"With the passing of President Jimmy Carter, our nation bids farewell to a leader who dignified the office of the presidency and whose legacy extended far beyond his time in the White House," said Simpson.

Simpson noted Carter's significant role in international diplomacy. "President Carter’s leadership during the 1978 Camp David Accords demonstrated his steadfast commitment to peace and stability in the Middle East, a remarkable achievement that continues to shape global relations."

Additionally, Simpson praised Carter for his early recognition of environmental issues. "He also recognized early the critical importance of protecting our natural resources, laying the groundwork for the environmental conservation efforts we value today."

Carter's impact on both domestic policies and international relations remains influential long after his presidency.
