Hal Queyor enlisted in the United States Army Reserve and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Queyor, a resident of Malone, has over 50 years of service as an Army Reservist and community leader.
He enlisted in the Reserve on August 4, 1968, and was assigned to the 310th Field Hospital, 77th Army Command. Following advanced training in Hospital Administration at Brooke Medical Center at Fort Sam in Houston, Texas, Mr. Queyor returned to Malone and rejoined the 310th Field Hospital.
In June 1971, he was promoted to Sergeant E-5 as Non-Commissioned Officer in charge of the Registrar Division. He received another promotion to Staff Sergeant E-6 in 1973 and served with distinction before being honorably discharged in August 1976.
Mr. Queyor’s dedication to veterans continued after his discharge. In July 1978, he joined Malone Amvets Post 8 and became an advocate for his community’s veteran population. As a member of Malone Amvets, Mr. Queyor has served as Finance Officer, Commander, and GI Club President for many years. He was twice named Post 8 Amvet of the Year.
In October 2014, Mr. Queyor began serving as a statewide voice for veterans when he was appointed to the New York State Amvets Finance Committee. Over the past decade, he has fully committed himself to that position and eventually rose to become Amvets Department of New York State Commander. Last year, he was elected to a three-year term as Treasurer of Amvets New York State Service Foundation.
Senator Stec chose him as his inductee into the 2024 New York State Senate Veterans Hall of Fame stating that "the 45th Senate District is a better place because of Mr. Queyor’s service and dedication to his fellow veterans and home community."
