GEYSER ROAD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: New York state for the start of the 2020-2021 school year based on current COVID-19 infection rates

Zz

Geyser Road Elementary School issued the following announcement.

On Friday, August 7, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that in-person instruction is permitted in all regions of New York state for the start of the 2020-2021 school year based on current COVID-19 infection rates, while also outlining new expectations for school reopening plans.

These requirements include making three distinct parts of draft reopening plans (remote learning, COVID testing and contact tracing) available on the school district website. This information will be posted on the website by the end of the day on Friday, August 14.

In addition, Districts must take specific steps to engage parents and teachers in the reopening process.  The District has scheduled two additional Virtual Community Forums on Tuesday, August 18 at 6 p.m. and Thursday, August 20 at 10 a.m.  Click here to watch a recording of the Virtual Community Forum held on Monday, August 10 (password: Saratoga7).

In order to allow our District-wide Instructional Advisory Team time to finalize scheduling details and share more information with our parents about the District’s Virtual School model, we have extended the deadline for families to fill out the Reopening Registration Form to Wednesday, August 19 at 12 p.m.

We know you have a lot of questions and we’re working hard to address them all on the Reopening (FAQ) Page found on the district website. Thank you for your continued support as we get closer to reopening.
