Elise Stefanik, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 21st district, has been vocal this week on issues ranging from foreign gifts in education to women’s rights in sports and university policy on antisemitism. These subjects highlight some of the ongoing discussions in the political sphere, with Congresswoman Stefanik aligning herself with positions taken by former President Donald Trump.
On April 23, 2025, Stefanik emphasized the need for transparency regarding foreign gifts to American educational institutions. She stated, “It is imperative that American educational institutions disclose foreign gifts. I believe this is one of many issues fueling the moral rot and crisis in higher education. President @realDonaldTrump’s executive order ensures universities follow the rules and deliver much needed.”
In another tweet on April 24, 2025, Stefanik addressed the contentious issue of transgender athletes in women’s sports. She asserted, “Our daughters should not be forced to compete against biological men in competitive sports or share a locker room with biological men. I am honored to stand with President @realdonaldtrump in his commitment to protect women’s sports.”
Later that day, she commented on planned student encampments at Columbia University, pointing out policy violations and antisemitic sentiments. Stefanik noted, “The planned encampments at Columbia University are against the university policies. President @realDonaldTrump was clear, students who participate in antisemitic vitriol will be swiftly held accountable for their hate. I will be keeping an eye on this situation to see how the.”
Elise Stefanik was born in Albany, New York in 1984, and currently resides in Schuylerville. She graduated from Harvard University with a degree in AB and has been serving in Congress since 2015, representing New York’s 21st District.
