Elise Stefanik, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 21st district since 2015, has been vocal on social media about recent events and commemorations. Her tweets reflect her positions on law enforcement, historical remembrance, and academic leadership.
On May 8, 2025, Stefanik commented on an incident at Columbia University where “Police arrested about 40 radical, antisemitic agitators at Columbia.” She expressed hope that those involved would face serious consequences for their actions and commended law enforcement for restoring order. She emphasized that “No student should feel unsafe on campus,” urging universities to take responsibility.
Later that day, she took to Twitter again to commemorate Victory Day. In her tweet, she paid tribute to the veterans of World War II by stating “Today, we honor Victory Day and the heroes of WWII.” She highlighted the courage and sacrifice of what is often referred to as the Greatest Generation and underscored their lasting legacy in her district.
In another post from May 8th, Stefanik criticized the president of Haverford College following a line of questioning she led. According to her tweet, “My line of questioning exposed the Haverford President’s cowardice.” She condemned the president’s hesitance in denouncing a massacre celebrated on October 7th. Stefanik argued that true leaders should not need guidance to condemn acts of mass murder.
Elise Stefanik was born in Albany, New York in 1984 and currently resides in Schuylerville. A Harvard University graduate with an AB degree, she succeeded Bill Owens in representing New York’s 21st district.
