Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C-Adirondack) has expressed support for the recent peace agreement between Israel and Palestine, which was brokered by President Donald J. Trump. The deal is intended to establish a ceasefire, facilitate the release of hostages, and promote continued dialogue in a region that has experienced prolonged conflict.

Simpson stated, “I commend the president for his pursuit of peace in the Middle East. This agreement could only have been achieved through the kind of strong leadership that prioritizes security and a relentless pursuit of stability. This shows that true progress demands leaders who don’t flinch from the tough calls.”

The announcement follows two years of violence that began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched an attack on Israel resulting in 1,200 deaths and 251 hostages taken.

“My thoughts and prayers remain with the families on both sides who have suffered unimaginable loss, and I urge all parties to build on this foundation for lasting reconciliation,” Simpson said.
