Mark Hall has been appointed as the new chair of the Adirondack Park Agency (APA) Board, succeeding John Ernst, who is retiring. Assemblyman Matt Simpson (R,C-Adirondack) extended his congratulations to Hall and expressed confidence in his leadership.
“I am thrilled to see Mark Hall step into the role of APA chair,” said Simpson. “Mark’s background serving North Country communities and proven track record of bridging environmental protection with economic vitality make him the ideal leader. I look forward to working with him to support our local families and preserve our natural heritage,” said Simpson.
Hall has a long history in public service, focusing on both conservation and economic development in the Adirondacks. He joined the APA Board in 2021 and has held several positions, including town supervisor of Fine, executive director of the Adirondack Association of Towns and Villages, and board member of the St. Lawrence County Industrial Development Agency. His experience includes work in water quality improvement, brownfield cleanup, and broadband infrastructure projects. These skills are expected to guide the APA as it addresses issues such as climate resilience and sustainable tourism.
