Senator Jim Tedisco and Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh announced the signing of a new law by the Governor aimed at protecting the Woods Hollow Nature Preserve. This legislation facilitates a conservation easement land transfer from the Village of Ballston Spa to the Town of Milton, ensuring the preserve remains undeveloped.
Woods Hollow, a 130-acre park on Rowland Street, offers opportunities for fishing, hiking, jogging, skiing, and nature trails. The newly signed bill (S.9269A) guarantees that this natural resource will be preserved for future generations.
“As Ranking Member of the Senate Cultural Affairs, Tourism and Parks and Recreation Committee, I know how important it is for our area’s quality of life to preserve our parkland and nature preserves,” said Senator Jim Tedisco. He expressed pride in sponsoring and passing the legislation to protect Woods Hollow Nature Preserve permanently.
Assemblywoman Mary Beth Walsh shared her satisfaction with the law’s passage: “I’m pleased the Governor recognized a need and signed this law to assist the Ballston Spa and Milton communities.” She emphasized that maintaining green space was critical for both localities involved.
Milton Town Supervisor Scott Ostrander praised Senator Tedisco and Assemblywoman Walsh: “These two legislators went above and beyond to get this law passed… It’s leadership like this in our state that represents our town.”
Ballston Spa Mayor Frank Rossi Jr. also appreciated their efforts: “We truly appreciate the hard work of Senator Tedisco and Assemblywoman Walsh… The sale is critical to the future of Woods Hollow.”
