The Department of Public Works and the Water and Sewer Department in Glens Falls are responding to rising temperatures and potential rain on March 3 and 4 by opening snow-covered catch basins. This action is intended to help manage runoff as melting snowbanks create puddles and streams throughout the city.

Officials are asking residents to be cautious when driving near areas where crews are working. “Please, watch for the crews, give them space and slow down as they do this work,” the departments stated. They also advised drivers to exercise care when passing through puddle-prone zones.

This response comes as local authorities aim to prevent water accumulation on streets by ensuring that stormwater systems remain accessible during periods of rapid snowmelt.
