The City of Glens Falls announced on March 11 that the informal tax assessment grievance process for property owners has begun and will be conducted by appointment only. The city recently sent out tax assessments to landowners, as performed by KLW Municipal, to measure the value of their homes.

This process is important because it allows property owners to review and contest their preliminary 2026 assessment values if they believe these do not accurately reflect the full market value of their properties. The city emphasized that the tax assessment is not a bill but rather an evaluation tool.

Property owners who wish to schedule an informal review meeting with a representative from KLW can do so by calling (518) 240-8799, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., no later than March 21, 2026. Meetings are available at various times between March 11 and March 26, including evening and weekend hours. Online and mail-in options are also available for those unable to attend in person.

All sessions will take place at City Hall on the second floor and require an appointment. For questions regarding changes in assessment or details about the informal review process, residents can call (716) 632-2400.

Further information can be found in the letter sent to each property owner or by consulting additional materials provided by the city.
