The City of Glens Falls announced on April 15 that several roads near Lawrence Street Tavern will be closed to most traffic on Sunday, April 19, from 1 to 5 p.m. The closures are due to a benefit event for injured city firefighter Micki Guy, which is expected to draw a significant crowd.

City officials said the event will take place at the Lawrence Street Tavern from 2 to 5 p.m., and access roads near the tavern will be restricted to local traffic and emergency vehicles only. The tavern is located at the corner of Lawrence and Cooper streets, with all directions leading to that intersection blocked during the event hours.

Drivers are advised to use alternative routes as “Road Closed Ahead” signs will be posted at Cooper Street at Dix Avenue, Cooper Street at Maple Street, Lawrence Street at Walnut Street, and Lawrence Street at Leonard Street. Barricades and additional signage will be placed closer to the venue in order to allow local residents and business patrons access within the perimeter.

Access for open businesses such as The Shirt Factory, Hallwear, and Grey Ghost Bikes inside the affected area will still be permitted during this time.

Officials encourage motorists to plan ahead if traveling through this part of Glens Falls on Sunday afternoon.
